Mission Measurement Workshops

Measurement 101

Why should you measure performance? Who else is doing it? What is the difference between measurement and evaluation? How can you prove that you are making a difference? How can measurement be used to raise funds and justify budgets? This workshop will address these questions and teach participants the basics of measurement. Participants will obtain a comprehensive understanding of how to strategically use measurement to advance organizational goals, manage more effectively and communicate with key stakeholders.

Building Your Own Measurement Framework

What outcomes are most important to your organization’s success? How can they be measured? What tools do you have at your disposal to begin measuring today? What are common measurement issues? How can you implement measurement most effectively? This workshop will address these questions and teach participants how to define key outcomes and performance metrics. At the completion of the workshop, participants will have developed a customized Measurement Framework that can be used on a daily basis to measure and track results.

Applied Measurement

Organizations do not measure for the sake of measurement; they measure to improve results. How can you use performance data to inform strategy? Communicate results to key stakeholders? Allocate resources more efficiently? Ensure staff accountability? Benchmark and continuously improve? Raise funds and justify your budget? This workshop will address these questions and help your organization build performance measurement into the organizational culture. Learn how to leverage performance data to make better decisions and improve your organization’s chances for success.

Consulting

Measurement Begins with Strategy

To measure performance, you must first clearly define your outcomes. Outcomes are the building blocks of strategy, and also the predicates for measurement. For this reason, Mission Measurement’s work always begins with Strategy. There are two kinds of strategy conversations: impact strategy (“what are we trying to accomplish?”) and program strategy (“what should we do?”). The former is essential to figuring out the latter.

Mission Measurement works with clients to assess the organization’s desired impacts, both social and strategic. This includes reviewing strategic plans, analyzing evaluations, conducting key stakeholder interviews and understanding the organization’s current programs. The output of our Impact Strategy process is a clearly defined set of organization-wide, measurable outcomes.

Analytics

Report Powerful Data to Key Decisionmakers

Our Analytics team specializes in taking the Measurement Framework developed during Measurement phase and implementing a plan for ongoing data collection and reporting. Through a facilitated discussion with management, our team works to map data flows, identify reporting needs and initiate the data collection and reporting process.

Our team works hands-on to implement a sustainable, recurring data collection process and to ensure a successful integration into your organization’s business process. We develop a user-friendly data collection template that allows for quick and easy data collection from departments, program managers, grantees, or affiliates.

All of our data collection templates are linked to allow for easy aggregation, enabling our staff to “roll-up” and analyze performance across the entire organization. Our Analytics team will develop dashboard reports and analyze your organization’s benchmarks, best practices and overall impact.
