Liz served as President of Morningstar’s Data division from 2000 to 2012, managing the company’s investment databases and related products. Liz joined Morningstar Inc. in 1995 as a member of the company’s institutional sales team. She served as international product manager from 1998 to 1999 and helped launch Morningstar’s business in Japan. From 1999 to 2000, she served as director of sales and business development for Morningstar.com and marketed Morningstar.com data and tools to other websites.
During her tenure, Liz’s team grew Morningstar’s data licensing business from $11 MM to $150 MM. Her team globalized and diversified the data sets to include not only data on mutual fund data but also data on global, real time market prices, fundamental equity data, and global commodities. Under her management, Morningstar created the world’s leading database of global mutual funds.
As an experienced innovator, Liz identified and pursued strategic opportunities to differentiate Morningstar through its data. Liz created the Quality Index Score and Morningstar Process Certification Model– two esteemed and transformative industry innovations. She also pioneered the company’s process management and improvement by introducing Lean and Six Sigma to Morningstar.
Liz is recognized as a data industry leader; she is an accomplished keynote speaker and author, serves on the boards of startup businesses and offers her expertise in several advisory roles.
Liz holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in History from Vassar College and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Columbia Business School.
